Liquid Lipsticks

Lipsticks have gone through a major evolution in past couple of years. With brands coming up with new and improved formulas every day, the choices accessible to consumers are plenty and sometimes confusing.

In today’s blog post I will be writing about the current trend of liquid lipsticks that are easily available in India, along with the swatches and reviews of the products that I own.

Liquid lipsticks are liquid or mousse-like in consistency but they set matte once applied. Some liquid lipsticks set ultra-matte, some matte, some set creamy matte. Most of the liquid lipsticks have a good staying power of 4-5 hours. For someone who’s used to creamy lipsticks these might be slightly drying.

Apply a lip balm before applying a liquid lipstick, the lip balm will hydrate your lips. Remove any excess balm using a tissue.

Now that your lips are prepped let’s begin with the reviews and swatches

1.       Lakme 9 to 5 Weightless Mousse Lip and Cheek Color – this is my favourite product. The formula of these lipsticks is mousse-like and they set ultra-matte. The staying power of these liquid lipsticks is 4-5 hours on my lip, after which I need a few touch ups. The product is transfer proof. A few shades can also be used as a cheek colour, but I prefer them as a lipstick. The product comes in 10 beautiful shades, that will suit a lot of Indian skin tones. The product retails at Rs 575/-.

2.       Colorbar Kiss Proof Lip Stain – this no-transfer formula is very smooth to apply and will give you a long lasting, velvety colour that will last for 4-5 hours. It may fade from the centre of your lips after 5 hours. All the eight shades are very pigmented and will suit many skin tones. The product retails at Rs 900/-.

3.       Chambor Extreme Wear Transferproof Liquid Lipstick – this product comes in 18 amazing deep and intense colours. This is a long-lasting lipstick and is creamy to apply but sets matte in a few minutes. And as the name says the product is transfer proof. The range of shades available are perfect for someone who likes deep hues of browns, reds, maroons and pinks. The packaging of this product is very sleek. Retail price Rs 845/-

4.       NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream – this product is available in 34 shades named after popular cities and they have recently added new shades to this range. The product has a rich and creamy texture that’s easy to apply. The shades are highly pigmented and set matte in five minutes. The product smells like freshly baked vanilla muffin. The product stays on my lips for 4-5 hours, then you will have to reapply the lip cream. Retails for Rs 600/-

5.       Miss Claire Soft Matte Lip Cream – Miss Claire is a brand you won’t find in malls, but at your local beauty stores or online. The formula of the lip creams is creamy and easy to apply but settles matte in 10 minutes. They are exact dupes to the NYX soft matte creams. The colour pay off this product is great and will last for a good 6-7 hours. There are more than 20 shades available, but a few of the shades are very light and may wash out deep skinned beauties. But for the price you pay Rs 220/- you can stock up a few shades.
